Deported wife Maryland Man Abrego García said he hit, scratched her in 2021 judicial documents

The wife of Kilmar Abrego García, the Salvadoran migrant whose unfair deportation to El Salvador is in the center of a legal battle with the Trump administration, had a temporary order of protection against him in 2021 in which he cited being slapped, hit with an object and detained against his will, according to the judicial documents obtained by the news of ABC.

In a long statement within a protection request “against domestic violence”, Jennifer Vásquez Sura mentioned an incident on May 4, 2021, in which he alleges that Abrego García “hit and scratched his eye”, which made her bleed.

That same day, Vásquez Sura said that when he told Abrego García that he needed to go to a store, “he got angry and began shouting to the point that he was torn. [her] shorts and shirt. “

“And I ran to the bathroom, he [ran] Behind me and grabbed me by my arm, “Vásquez Sura said.” I have marks on my left arm too. “

“At this point, I’m afraid of being close to him,” added Vásquez Sura. “I have several photos/videos of how [violent] He can be. “

Vásquez Sura obtained a temporary protection order against Abrego García in May 2021, according to the records of the State Court in Maryland. The Order required that Abrego García does not have contact with Vásquez Sura, and to remain away from his shared residence, as shown in the records.

In a statement issued to ABC News on Wednesday through his lawyer, Vásquez Sura, who has been a member in his support for Abrego García during his imprisonment in El Salvador, said: “After surviving domestic violence in a previous relationship, I acted by caution after a disagreement with Kilmar when looking for an order of protection in case it intensifies.”

“We were able to overcome this situation in private as a family, even going to advice,” said Vásquez Sura. “Kilmar has always been a fellow and loving father, and I will continue to support him and demand justice.”

Abrego García, whom the Trump administration alleges is a member of the MS-13 criminal gang, is entering his second month in a mega prison in El Salvador after being deported there on March 15 despite receiving a 2019 court order that excepts his deportation to his country of origin due to the fear of persecution.

He had been living in Maryland with Vásquez Sura, his 5 -year -old son and two steps. Vásquez Sura has denied that he is affiliated with MS-13.

In the 2021 documents obtained by ABC News, Vásquez Sura pointed out two past incidents, claiming that in 2020, Abrego García hit her with her work start and that in August 2020 he hit her in the eye.

The protection order was dismissed a month after it was issued, on June 17, 2021, after Vásquez Sura did not appear before the court, according to an order signed by dismissal by a judge.

ABC News also obtained documents presented to a Maryland court in August 2018 by a man who claimed to be the father of two of Vásquez Sura’s children. In a five -page motion for an emergency audience, he said he feared for the life of children, in part, “because she is dating a member of a gang and tried self -collons,” they say the records.

The man did not include the name of the individual who alleged is a member of a gang. It is not known if he referred to Abrego García.

The initials of the names of their children, listed in a custody complaint, coincide with those that Vásquez Sura listed for their children in a statement filed in the case of Abrego García.

It seems to have left some sections of the unfinished complaint, including the conditions of custody that I was requesting. However, in the presentation, he said that he would allow Vásquez Sura to visit the children on the condition that “we both agree at the time and date.”

According to judicial documents dated January 18, 2019, the case was dismissed because Vásquez Sura was not fulfilled.

Vásquez Sura’s lawyers did not respond to a request for comments on documents involving their ex.

On Tuesday, a federal judge ordered government officials to testify under oath because, he said, “they had not done anything to help in the release of Abrego García de la Custody and return to the United States,” despite the fact that the Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to “facilitate” the release of Abrego García de la Custody in El Salvador.

The National Security Department, in a social media post on Wednesday, shared a 2021 judicial registry of the protection order of Abrego García and said in the position that “was not Maryland’s” man “that the media have portrayed it.”
