R-GrammyThe & B singer Angie Stone, who founded an early female rap group and then helped to be a pioneer in the neo-Soul sound, died early Saturday in a car accident, according to the representative of the deceased star. She was 63 years old.
The artist was involved in a fatal car accident at dawn on Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama, said Stone representative, Deborah R. Champagne.
At the time of the accident, Stone and the members of his band were heading to Atlanta after a performance the previous night in Mobile, according to a statement from the Independent SRG-ils label. An 18 -wheeled vehicle hit the sprinter Van Stone was a passenger, which made him turn, according to the statement.

The nearby friend of Stone and former bandmate, Gwendolyn “Blondie” Chisolm of the sequence, identified her body in a Montgomery hospital, said Champagne. Chisolm did not travel with stone at the time of the accident, according to Champagne.
The singer had been scheduled to travel to Baltimore for a part -time presentation at the CIAA basketball conference on Saturday afternoon.
Stone survives a daughter, Diamond Stone, and a son, Michael d’Angelo Archer II.

Born in Angela Laverne Brown, on December 18, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone grew by singing Gospel music in the church and first jumped to fame with the Early The Sequence female rap group, known for her 1979 “Funk You Up” success.
